| CONGRESSIONAL DERANGEMENT SYNDROME EXPOSED |
|---|
It's time take a serious look a subject that few will even admit exists. Ten years ago, that subject was ED or Erectile Dysfunction and thanks to the efforts of brave souls such as former Senator Bob Dole, we've made great progress in overcoming it. Today a similar problem exists that few wish to discuss is CDS or Congressional Derangement Syndrome. How do we define CDS? There still remains a great deal of research to be done, but like Alzheimer's disease, there are signs and symptoms that can lead to proper diagnosis in most cases. Does your Congressman show any of these signs or symptoms? 1 - Telling a constituent that he wouldn't dignify him by peeing on his leg. 2 - Insisting that running up huge deficits are a sure sign of wealth and actually good for a country but 3 - Stating that town hall meetings are beneath the dignity of the office. 4 - Stating that he doesn't care what his constituents think. 5 - Referring to opposing opinion as "un-american," "astro-turf,"."nazis," or even worse. 6 - Claiming the CIA lied but refusing to come up with evidence. 7 - Refusing to read bills because they're too complex. 8 - Voting on bills he or she hasn't read. 9 - Proposing new public programs while pointing to failing and bankrupt programs as a comparison. Although there are many more, these are some of the sure signs that a Congressman is suffering from Congressional Derangement Syndrome. Mounting evidence suggests that CDS can be caused by several factors: Lengthy exposure to toxins inside the halls of the Capitol building itself, frequent exposure to lobbyists and lobbying organizations, the vapors from large amounts of campaign cash, and too little exposure to constituents. Take heart, there are treatments available such as requirements for frequent attendance at town hall meetings, direct exposure to constituent letters and e-mail, and if that doesn't work, defeat at the polls. There are also preventive measures that can be taken such as term limits, required reading of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution plus the writings of Jefferson, Adams and Monroe, limits on campaign contributions and perhaps even Federal funding of campaigns. One requirement must be instituted immediately: A Surgeon General's warning on all Congressional literature, websites and campaign materials... "Warning: Service in Congress can result in Congressional Derangement Syndrome." |
Time to restore this country to the ideals of Jefferson and Adams...
